The Asian Development Bank (ADB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Digital Development and Communications (MDDC) of Mongolia, conducted further stakeholder consultation on the draft report on e-commerce law in Mongolia last 20 January 2023 as part of the Technical Assistance on Enabling a Conducive Environment for the Digital Economy of the Law and Policy Reform of ADB.
The draft report reviewed and reported on the legal framework for e-commerce in Mongolia. In particular, it identified the legal and regulatory barriers to effective e-commerce and provides recommendations for improvement.
The webinar was attended by various representatives including those from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). It is a follow through from the 16 December 2022 stakeholder consultation that was specifically designed for, or directed to, Mongolian government agencies and business associations located in Mongolia including authorities from foreign affairs, customs, tax, among others.
